Dorich House Museum 2026
Dorich House Museum is the former studio home of the sculptor Dora Gordine and her husband, the Hon. Richard Hare, a scholar of Russian art and literature.
In this project, I replaced and transformed my paintings into curtains in their dining room. I made paintings in response to the colors and rhythm from Dora’s sculptures, the design of the house, the artwork in the dining room and the view from those windows. Like composing a fluid music piece, this painting lands on the semi- transparent fabric, allowing natural light and weather changes to form a live chamber music with the interior, a place once lived. Perhaps the painting curtain is more like playing a piece that’s already there, with my interpretation.

It almost created an illusion that the curtains are always like this. The painting became a temporary guest of the house and part of the architecture. While the dining room itself, when hosting guests, is a place for social performance, a painting in disguise of a curtain echoes with the idea of performing.
